Emily Carr
Born in Victoria, Emily Carr (1871–1945) was Canada’s
first prominent female artist and is still considered
one of its greatest painters. Her early works depicted
the west coast Salish people and their totem poles.
She went on to produce many remarkable landscapes
featuring Canada’s verdant forests.
