Rembrandt
This ink drawing of Saskia in Bed by Rembrandt
can sometimes be seen in the Mendini Pavilion.
. De Ploeg
The Groningen art
collective De Ploeg has its
own pavilion. In addition
to works by the group, the
section also displays works
by other Expressionists
from northern Europe. The
picture Rotating Door of the
Post Office is by De Ploeg
painter HN Werkman.

Museum Guide
Groninger Museum was designed by
Alessandro Mendini (born 1931). He based the
design around the collections of the museum,
which consisted of archaeology, applied arts
and early and modern pictorial arts. The focus
Bridge in the Coop of the building is the 30-m (98-ft)
Himmelb(l)au Pavilion tower in the middle.
