. The Flower Market and Town Hall
Gerrit Berckheijde (1638–98) painted
this scene (1673) showing the site of
Amsterdam’s original flower market on
the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, which was
filled in at the end of the 19th century. In
the background is the Koninklijk Paleis.
