Józefa Piłsudskiego (formerly Wolska) Street 9 Church of the Sisters
formed part of the route connecting Krakow of the Sacred Heart
with Wola Justowska, a route first recorded of Jesus
The square in front of this
in the 16th century. After Nowy Świat and church was once a flood
the neighbouring jurisdictions were plain of the Rudawa river
incorporated into Krakow, it became one which was filled in prior
of the main avenues in this part of town. to the construction of
the convent buildings.
Elegant residential and public architecture
developed here by the end of the 19th
century and some of the buildings show
Polish architecture at its best. A stroll down
the street is also rewarded by great views
of the vast Błonia Fields with Kościuszko
Mound in the distance, behind which
Piłsudski Mound can also be seen.

decorated with some
exquisite, though
somewhat overdone,
sculptures of fantastic
creatures.
