        Veit Stoss (Wit Stwosz)
        Veit Stoss (1447–1533), one of the greatest wood-carvers of the late Gothic
        age, was born in Horb am Neckar in Germany. He lived in Krakow from 1477
        to 1496, where he was exempted from paying taxes by the City Council. He
        created a number of sculptural works here.
