Practice
makes perfect
Remember Prince William’s look of
relief when he successfully fitted
Prince George’s car seat in front of the
whole world? When you buy your
baby’s car seat, most retailers will show
you how to correctly install it – so pay
attention! Or, if you buy online, seek
out some videos. It may feel silly, but
practising before your baby is born
will make you both feel calmer.
Keep things simple
There’s no need to worry about music
WORDS EMILY THORPE when travelling. Babies often settle
or toys to keep your baby entertained
well in the car because the sound and
movement replicates the feeling of
being in the womb. Plus a newborn can
only stay awake for short periods, so
chances are she’ll snooze happily.
Think
smart
It’s exciting to choose your baby’s
coming-home outfit but there are a
few things to consider first. Think about
the weather: is it summer or winter? It’s
important that your baby doesn’t overheat
so don’t go for thick items (however much y
want to bundle her up!). Layers are a good
choice, so you can adjust what she’s wearin
easily. And, remember, even if it’s chilly,
you’ll be in the car with heating, so
there’s no need for mitts or a hat.
