                                 Trastevere to central Rome.
                      The Torre degli
                      Anguillara (13th century)
                      is the only survivor of

                      that once dominated the
                      Trastevere skyline.

                                     Piazza Belli is named after Giuseppe Gioacchino
                         T E V E R E
                                     Belli (1791–1863), who wrote satirical sonnets
                                     in Roman dialect rather than academic Italian.
                                     At the center of the piazza stands a statue of

                                6 San Crisogono
                           The Romanesque bell tower
                        dates from the early 12th century.
                        The plain portico is a later addition
                      (1626), but is in keeping with the spirit
                              of this ancient church.
