mountain range?

The Mid-Ocean Ridge mountain chain
is 40,400 miles (65,000 km) long,

but almost all of it lies deep
in the ocean.

FIRE AND ICE

Iceland is one of the few places
where the Mid-Ocean Ridge
appears above sea level.
Because of the ridge’s tectonic
activity, Iceland has many
active volcanoes, such as Much of the Mid-Ocean Ridge
Bardarbunga. This erupted remains unmapped, and
for six months in 2014–2015. existing charts may not be
accurate because it is hard
to map the seafloor.
