                                             In 1977, 22 of the 27 stone heads of the
                                               Kings of Judah (carved around 1220
                                            during the reign of Philippe Auguste and
                                             removed from Notre-Dame in the 18th
                                                 century) were unearthed during
                                                  excavations behind the Opéra.
