known as brackes existed in Germany Tan with black blanket
for centuries. Today the German Hound,
or Deutsche Bracke, is one of the few to
survive. This hound, bred by combining

In the early 20th century a small, short-
legged hound from Germany, the Westphalian
Dachsbracke, was imported to Sweden. The Drop ears with
rounded tips
breed proved popular as a game tracker, and
by the 1940s the Swedes had developed their
own version, the Drever.
Because of its strong White neck hair
extends down
hunting instinct, this on to chest
breed is best kept
as a sporting dog.
