Corded Poodle

Like other poodles, Corded Poodles have been bred from separate
lines of the well-known Poodle (see p.229) for many years but as yet
are not recognized as a breed in their own right. Their kind of cording
is more often found on herding breeds, offering protection against

harsh weather and predators. Coats are corded with a little
encouragement and are fairly easy to look after.

Also known as the Dutch Spaniel or Wetterhoun,

this breed was originally used by fishermen to into a ring
control otters. It is still used for flushing and
retrieving, but also as a guard and farm
dog. Its independent, slightly suspicious Low-set ears
hang flat
character makes it unsuitable for city against head
living, but it is a reliable and rugged
dog for a rural home.
