           Large Munsterlander

          The Grosser Munsterlander, as it is called in Germany, is more
          closely related to the German Pointer (see p.244) than the Small

           Small Munsterlander

                 WEIGHT  40–60lb (18–27kg)
                 LIFE SPAN  13–14 years

          One German name for the breed,
          Heidewachtel or “heath quail dog,”                       White blaze                        Well feathered

          describes this dog’s first purpose                                        and white
          of flushing game birds. Although
          it is a cheerful and affectionate
          companion, hunters quickly snap
          up almost all of the small numbers
          that are bred each year. Despite
          its name, this breed is not
          directly related to the Large
          Munsterlander (above).
