Scientists think

                                                                 some crocodiles can live

                                                                 more than one hundred

                                                               years, and that they never

                                                               stop growing—they just

                                                                   keep getting bigger.

                                                                              Make a mistake and you
                                                                           could be dinner! Crocodiles lie

                                        low in muddy water so only their eyes and nostrils show. They
                                    wait patiently until an animal comes too near the water’s edge,

                                 then ... snap! Crocs gobble everything from fish to water buffalo.
                                 There is a story that crocodiles cry when eating. People used to think

                                 it was made-up, but now we know it’s true! The crocs aren’t sad,
                                 though. The water is squeezed out when they bite.


                                           Saltwater crocodiles are the largest reptiles. Although
                                                    they look scary, they can be very gentle. Mother

                                                           crocodiles carefully carry their babies

                                                               around in their mouth.
