Giraffe

M easuring up to 20 ft (6 m) from head to toe, giraffes are the

world’s tallest animals. They could easily peek into a second-

floor bedroom window! Everything about a giraffe is huge. Its feet
are about the size of dinner plates, and its giant heart is almost

40 times the weight of a human’s. Giraffes are even big enough
for other animals to live on. Oxpecker birds cling to their fur and

search for bloodsucking ticks to eat.

Being tall has its problems. To drink, giraffes almost have to do splits

to get their head down to the water, and giving birth standing up
is tricky. A newborn giraffe has a 7 ft (2 m) fall to the ground.
