Tree of life Carnivores

                                                                                                     Odd-toed
We have named over a million species of animal, but there are hoofed
probably millions more waiting to be found. All animals belong mammals
to the tree of life, which is an illustration showing how they are
related to one another. Animals on branches closer together
are more closely related. The groups that have lived on Earth
the longest form the tree’s lowest branches.
                                                                             Primates

                                                                   Rabbits Pangolins
         Reptiles

If it has tough, dry skin covered Rodents
in scales then it’s a reptile. These
         animals’ bodies do not make
heat, so to warm up they often
         sunbathe. Most lay eggs, which
can have a hard or soft shell.
                                                                                                          Marsupials

                                                                       Turtles and
                                         Lizards and
              Crocodiles snakes tortoises

           Birds

                                                          Fish Bony fish
                                                          These amazing animals can all
breathe underwater. Some live in the
salty sea and others in freshwater.
Usually fish have smooth scales, but
Birds sharks and rays have small, rough
                                                          scales that feel like sandpaper.
Swooping through the skies, or running
along the ground, you can tell a bird by
its feathers and hard beak. Birds are
         descended from dinosaurs, and just
like these ancient reptiles they lay
         hard-shelled eggs.

        Sharks Starfish

                                                             Rays
                                                                                                      Jellyfish
