Exploring Western Estonia
Western Estonia offers an irresistible blend of cultural heritage
and wild natural beauty. Pärnu is a good base from which
to explore the bogs and wetlands of Soomaa National Park
to the east and the flourishing bird sanctuary of Matsalu
National Park to the north. The popular spa resort of Haapsalu
is within easy driving distance of Tallinn and visitors can
explore the ruggedly beautiful coastal area around Paldiski
on the way. The islands of Kihnu, Muhu, Saaremaa, Vormsi Wooden trail through Riisa Bog in Soomaa
and Hiiumaa are well connected to the mainland by ferry National Park
and can be reached from Pärnu and Haapsalu.
