WADDY’S WAGON
The crew of the USAAF Boeing B-29-40-BW
Superfortress ‘Waddy’s Wagon’, 869th Bomb
Squadron, captained by Walter ‘Waddy’ Young, pose
in front of the plane to mimic their caricatures in
the nose art. The crew were the first to return
from the USA’s initial bombing mission over
Japan, but the plane was shot down the
following year, killing all on board.
