ANIMAL ATTRACTIONS
Chester Zoo
Where Cheshire, England
The most visited zoo in the United Kingdom,
Chester Zoo employs a team of experts who
conduct research on six key regions across
the globe, developing programs that aim to
prevent extinction. The zoo itself is home to
more than 27,000 animals and a Chester Zoo
Experience Day is the best way to encounter
and learn about the wide range of species.
But enviro-efforts don’t have to stop just
because your day at the zoo is over. The zoo
runs a number of campaigns, such as Sing
for Songbirds, a partnership with singer-
songwriter Ashley Fayth, which aims to raise
awareness of the threat facing songbirds
in Indonesia. Proceeds help fund
conservation efforts.

Wellington Zoo
Where Wellington, New Zealand
Wellington Zoo is green in more ways than
one, operating as carbon-neutral since 2013.
With a focus on reducing waste, harnessing
clean energy and recycling rain water, the zoo
purchases carbon credits for any emissions
that can’t be reduced, which are used to help
regenerate Pigeon Bush Reserve, an
important habitat for native animals and birds.
The zoo supports conservation programs,
and its award-winning animal hospital, The
Nest Te Kōhanga, has treated over 3,400
native wildlife patients since its opening in
2009. Their Close Encounters experiences are
sure to get little monkeys aged six years and
over going bananas for conservation, with 10
per cent of proceeds supporting the
01 Wellington Zoo Conservation Fund.
