ANIMAL ATTRACTIONS
Singapore Zoo
Where Singapore
If there’s a rumble in the jungle, you’re sure to
see it at Singapore Zoo. Its ‘open concept’
landscape allows animals to roam in spacious
environments that mimic their natural habitat.
The expansive zoo is home to over 300 species
of animals, 34 per cent of which are threatened.
Singapore Zoo is part of Wildlife Reserves
Singapore, which has supported more than 50
conservation projects across nine countries to
date and places a focus on programs that assist
in releasing endangered and threatened species
back into the wild. Kids can get involved in
learning about the roaming residents of
Singapore Zoo in a range of educational 03
programs, guided tours and camps, including 01 Sumatran orangutan Mum Emma with her baby at Chester Zoo 02 Vet Emily with a little blue penguin at The
the Sleep with the Beasts Family Camp. Nest Te Kōhanga, Wellington Zoo 03 Orangutan Island at Singapore Zoo 04 Hamadryas baboons at the

San Diego Zoo
05 Where San Diego, USA
Over 3,500 rare and endangered animals call
San Diego Zoo home, but the biggest
achievement of this 40-hectare zoo is the
number of species released back into the wild
– 44 to be exact. The zoo’s breeding programs
provide valuable insights into the behaviour
and health of endangered species in over 45
countries. From the jungles of the Amazon
back to the lab, San Diego Zoo Institute for
Conservation Research also employs over 200
conservation scientists who work to fight
extinction. The Inside Look tours are a fun
way for eco-explorers to learn about the zoo’s
conservation efforts while visiting off-exhibit
areas. zoo.sandiegozoo.org
