Cocoon

Wrapped in my father's arms
on his knees
his quiet moments on the antique armchair
broken by my incessant babble.

His immobile stance
in my blue armchair,
nursery alive with animated figures
steady gaze on his sleeping grandson
a few days old.

Cocooned in the warmth
the gentle love, steadfast comfort
the unending source of solace
his grey Kashmiri shawl
his daily wrap,
now my sole source of closeness,
the wool still emanating his warmth.
