Treasures

                   The old black trunk
                   one of a few
                   lock still in place.

                   The firm hand, name in white brush
                   the strong smell of many decades.

                   Drenched in love,
                   filled with commitment lived out till the last.

                   Blushing bride in the cantonment
                   young flight signaller overseas
                   parting pains, anxious queries.
                   Bundles of letters
                   stamped from around the world.
                   Inlands and envelopes
                   the written story of tender love.

                   Stacks of telegrams,
                   wedding greetings of yore.
                   Blessings on the couple
                   who came together in 1954.

                   Gems time preserved in pristine care
                   Priceless beyond measure
                   My fortune, my inheritance
                   in the black military trunk
                   marked in his name.

                   @Nandita De Nee Chatterjee

                                      I know
                              I don't have wings,

                             But still   try to fly;
                              Because one day
                             I have to fly  forever
