“This is my family homeland. That young cub over there is, or rather was, my younger sister Keerah.
The older male is my Grandfather and his son my father is chasing Keerah. Mother was the one
taking this Memo-Graph. Over there is the family home” Meorr said and she looked sad
Fenton wrapped an arm around her. She stiffened slightly, then relaxed and turned to him.
“I’ve experienced images like this before, as projections over
the Achenazi Translator Bands, but never in such … Amazing
detail” Fenton exclaimed ,adding “Although the bands’
principle use is translation, with practice, is it possible to
relay a telepathic message. I understand now why you
wanted to retrieve these files. Family is an important drive
in my people also”
“I have lived so long away from them, and now they are
long gone, it will help me to grieve and come to terms with
my current situation. This does a similar job as your Translator band” and she pointed to a gem
encrusted collar. “It was designed by my people many decades before we went out into space to
explore. It too can be used for telepathic transmission. It would be interesting to find out if the
devices are compatible” she grinned again with that vicious looking set of incisors.
A ping signalled the completion of the file transfer. The image was gone in an instant and
they were back in the room. She picked up the rod and a tray like holder and yet another cable.
Signalling that this was all she needed she scanned her “den” one last time and picked up a yellow
hold all. She put all the objects inside, put on the overcoat, and they left for Terra Edo. A transport
vessel, the Lenora Vidal, was waiting for them to take them to Terra Prime, formerly Terra Nova, to
meet with the Unity council before Meorr could be taken to meet with her relative in the Venarr
system.
Hermes was going with them; he was meeting with his House Brother, Jupiter, who had
news from The Sonoran Trust. He seemed uneasy around Meorr, giving the excuse of generations of
mistrust between birds and cats in explanation. This was completely lost to Meorr, her race not
having dealings with avian species, since no equivalent species evolved on her home world. Perhaps,
like Fenton, he found those incisors intimidating and disturbing. Meorr seemed not to care either
way. She actually became quite “chatty” with the two of them during the journey, relaxing and
becoming more open about her time with her “captors”. They always used the metallic encounter
suits when outside the bridge area. She had gathered that they did have a physical form, but could
only call them, by association, The Elders, since they were a very ancient race indeed. They were
spectacularly advanced, technologically, biologically and sociologically. They used many droids and
sub species as manual labour. Droids being used where there was risk to biological life. They treated
the galaxy as some sort of zoo, themselves as keepers, curators or historians. They had examples of
many of the older races in captivity. The Hagunenon were latecomers to their collection, and the
most resistant to their mind control. The Elders used them for heavy construction of facilities,
defence, and where sheer brute force was needed.
“That would explain the wall surfaces inside the docking bay aboard the sphere” Fenton said
somewhat absentmindedly. She in turn asked lots of questions about the Unity adding that her
people would welcome becoming part of it.
“We are very socially ordered peoples. I can see my kind getting on well with the Flutvarn. What was
it you referred to them as? Ah! Yes; Frogs with a sense of fun. I can see that working” she emitted a
loud purring, her species equivalent to laughter and grinned once more.
