get a sample of their atmosphere to replenish the chamber. The occupant is in deep stasis” she
added
“But I thought… Oh of course the Roswell findings, brilliant, absolutely brilliant” he realised just how
much he had underestimated his boss. He ordered the Bio-Tech and the equipment then set about
documenting the entire bridge environment. He and Galena were in the final stages when the Bio-
Tech and equipment arrived. The Bio-Tech was a young Genovan female called Elisa Hu-Lang. Rupert
had dated her once… he had ended up in hospital with severe bruising to his ... more sensitive parts.
He whispered to her out of earshot of Galena.
“When did you get here? I thought you were on Halfords Moon” he quizzed
“About four days ago, we’ve been kept busy analysing the data from the rest of the Sphere. I’ve
been meaning to look you up after our last encounter, mainly to apologise for my… enthusiasm. Did I
hurt you much?” she said in response.
“Three weeks in intensive therapy along with some very nasty bruising, but I should have expected
that from a Genovan. I had been warned. That aside, I… Could we meet up later?” he asked in reply.
She winked and signed four thirty.
The replenishment of the atmosphere took about an hour. Galena didn’t want to take it too
quickly so as to avoid any damage. An engineer from Venosia Prime was going over the circuitry
belonging to the alcoves. He sat on one of the cushioned pads for ease of access to a service panel.
Vaguely listening to the conversations going on around him his concentration lapsed. His hand
slipped while he was taking a reading and the probe bridged two contacts. The loud crack of the
sparks made all in the room turn. Too late for him to react to, the strange headgear dropped onto
his head. His body went stiff and the machine activated. Images and text flashed across the inbuilt
visor screen. Whining sounds could be heard. His face muscles flexed violently then relaxed. His
mouth opened and he drooled. The head gear returned to its previous position and the engineer
slumped forward to the floor his extremities twitching. A medic was called for and arrived with two
orderlies and a stretcher. All eyes were off the Stasis chamber so nobody saw the faint glow that
appeared from the ring around the head of the being inside. On the rear inner wall of the alcove
flashing symbols appeared, they appeared to be counting down. The Stasis chamber control panel lit
up and started a chime. The Spheres Computer spoke softly.
“That’s not supposed to happen. It would appear your friend has somehow activated the revival
process, I do hope he will recover. The last time I recall this happening was with a Hagunenon Guard.
The poor creature went quite insane; the masters put him to sleep. They worked on his mind while
he slept and managed to correct most of the damage. The Guard was never quite the same. Always
walked with an odd hop after that!” …
“Out in the cold, cold, snow”
Meorr was impatient. She had been
civil when answering all the Unity’s Councillors
questions, answering them as able as she
could. Some questions she had no means of
answering not having the requisite knowledge.
Fenton felt her frustration, and sympathised.
He approached her where she sat on a window
seat overlooking Central Square.
