the discs. Because of the metaphors and allegories the translations were hard to pin down to any
kind of sensible, relative, meaning.
“Without a context for these allegorical texts, we could just be looking at a fictional work, we need
to find more of the language in context to its surroundings” Krysta added “You say the Untharan’s
discovered the wall panel on a planetoid. I wonder if it would be possible to organize a joint mission
to that desolate moon? Seeing the language in context with the surroundings might shed more light
on our mysterious Kryst” she mused
“Likewise ; maybe your people could go back to the site the cylinders were found in your part of the
galaxy; a similar examination may throw more light on all this” Lorna responded “I’ll take what we’ve
discovered to Melissa; sorry, Captain Hart and she might be able to get the ball rolling. Do you want
to contact your people and sort the other side of things?” she asked. Krysta nodded in agreement.
On the Luna Mechia the news of the crystal decoding elicited a mixed reception, and the
immediate agreement from Julio, who had rejoined his Uncle Rene on Keteria, that a joint expedition
would be the best way forward in both regions. Trok and Misha had expressed a wish to see the
ruins of Atlantis “close up”, so he and his Uncle had already dispatched a transport to retrieve them
and Lyris so that could begin.
“I’ve been meaning to go back to Atlantis for a while now, like the return to that moon, maybe our
return to the ruins might, with your knowledge, lead to a better understanding of who the Kryst
really were who settled there” Lyris said to Misha and Trok as the transport took them back to the
system where Atlantis was discovered. Lyris had already warned them of the conditions on the
planet; Trok seemed unconcerned by this saying just
“As long as the atmosphere is Non-corrosive; then I don’t need the protection of a suit”. An obvious
statement considering his Mechanoid nature. It was also obvious he was deep in thought for most of
the journey. He had been withdrawn since his last data contact with Lennie.
“Trok; what’s wrong. I’ve seen you like this before, and it was when you received some bad news.
Come on; out with it” Misha said, goading him slightly.
“Oh it’s nothing for you to worry about. Lennie gave me news about a recent find in the Hedebar
district on Kelgar. The locals unearthed an early mechanoid drone. It was constructed strangely and
dated from a period in the decades around the time of the Economy wars. It bore an uncanny
resemblance to one of the founding members of the Mechanoid race - 6371 Silas. It was found in the
remains of an alien craft of unknown origin?” he said puzzled at his openness about the subject.
“From when? That’s got to be wrong! Their robotics may have been advanced, but they didn’t have
the sophisticated positronic pathway circuitry that maide true Artificial Intelligence possible. That
only came about after the settlement and the reconstruction. Are they sure they haven’t confused
the dating?” Misha asked in shock
“No; the temporal signatures are correct. It dates from before the time of the Entity Baal and the
separation that formed the Dark Empire. The remains were burried deep in a calcite layer under the
region they call the Dessicated Sea. It’s the easiest material to fix a temporal signature on. That’s
what has me worried it doesn’t add up. It looks like we both have mysteries to solve.” Trok replied
and fell silent and broody again for the rest of the trip leaving Misha to explain the anomalous
discovery to Lyris.
Meanwhile on board the Hellion; Gio was making his engineering skills of use to Lennie, Jock
and the Archivists examining the Kryst Probe. Gio and Jock
had managed to remove a cylindrical device that seemed to
be part of the Probe’s distinctly odd power system.
“What do you think it might be?” Gio asked Jock
“Your guess is as guid as mine laddie! Although. Mister
Lennie; do you recall thon old fashioned Polaron storage
cells used before the introduction of the portable Cold
Fusion packs?” Jock asked
“I see where you’re heading; it does look vaguely similar,
