was so black. It’s all in this report. Darius is at the Spaceport awaiting you. You did say you would
offer any help we needed” Julio said handing her the pad.
“Certainly; the closer our peoples are the better” she said and she followed the Clerk out of the
Chamber.
“Lyris; one of your young assistants has found something on one of the Data Crystals, Trok we would
be most greatful if you could help refine the image he recovered, he’s having difficulty in getting a
fine focus of the scanning beam. The image is disturbing; as it appears to show a small vessel being
enveloped by something, there were coordinates on the image, if our people have interpreted these
correctly, then where this happened is nearby. What we need to know is a sense of when this
occurred as it could explain something that our ancestors discovered when they first came to this
region” Julio said to the two of them.
“I’ll help the young man to refine the scanning, but first I need to get a message back to Terra Prime,
it is important and has a bearing on what happened on Atlantis and to the location of the Kryst
Home world!” Trok replied. Julio signalled a coms tech to set up the link in Lyris’s laboratory and
Trok and Lyris went to the Lab.
“I caught a glimpse of the name of the young recruit. It’s the son of one of Julio’s cousins; and a
favorite of a certain young female courtesan” she said. Trok nodded and prepared his
communication as a data burst.

Lennie was in Coms when Trok’s message came in. Hasbid was on monitoring duty and was
having difficulty grasping the amount of data that Trok had compressed into his data burst.
“I honestly don’t know how you Mechs handle this kind of data flow. It would fry every neurone of a
organic brain; some of the Bio-Hives can’t even process that amount without damage” he said as he
relayed the burst to Lennie.
“That’s why we have a secondary processing unit; a second brain if you like, we can shift
responsibilities between them. One centre processes the data the other acts like a temporary store
and our memory banks collect the results. It’s also why we “freeze” we can’t process other functions
when we handle data bursts” Lennie said in response.
“I’d heard about that happening; but doesn’t that make you vunerable to attack?” Hasbid asked
“I suppose so, but our bodies are more easily repairable too”Lennie replied making a Flutvarn gurgle
to emphasise the humour. He froze while the data was relayed. When he unfroze he had a strange
look on his face.
“Hasbid, have you got the trajectory telemetry I calculated for the Kryst probe handy?” Lennie
eventually asked
“Sure; I’ve been triangulating it, or rather trying to, the coordinate system the Kryst used is strange”
Hasbid replied and called up the data on his monitor.
“Trok has found something out that makes more sense of the system, and from the data I sent him
in the last exchange he’s come up with a possible location of the Kryst homeworld. Can you get
Captain Hart, Lorna and the others to join me in the ready room in an hour, I want to try something
out first?” he said after looking over the data. Hasbid relayed his request to the others. Lennie left a
puzzled Hasbid and headed for the Engineering level.

Jock had passed the results of the Sheild experiment on to an engineer at the Unat built
Shipyard in the Velgas 3 system. His friend had managed to use salvaged Krall and Gantrax
technology to come up with a similar generator that could use a more regular power source.
Between them they had come up with the idea of outfitting a long distance relay drone with the
device and Jock had just received the prototype . The Shipyard had done a remarkable job. A note
had been sent with it and it read…
“We have not been able to test the completed drone, it should be tested in an uninhabited region,
as initial simulations show a fifteen percent possibility the power unit could explode under the
strain. It’s as strong as we dare make it without getting the attention of the Military, we hope it will
suffice” it was signed by his friend. Lennie stormed in
“It that the completed unit Jock?” he asked
