Chronicle 9 – The “Broken” Moon

The Journey begins

The Untharan word for Hell is T’Shon;
and the planet the Untharans discovered in
that remote sector of rim space, was the
epitome of Hell. Orbiting around a Star; called
P’rada, that was twice the size of their home
system star, Unt, but half as bright, this
blasted world resembled an oversized version
of the Jovian moon Io. Its atmosphere was
composed of mostly gaseous Sulphur
compounds. What little water there was hung
among these gases as a misty acidic vapour,
the surface and atmospheric temperatures
were far too high to allow liquid precipitation,
what did settle on the surface consisted of
mostly mineral flakes and dust. It was a desolate; barren wasteland. However; the planet had one
saving grace, a single solitary satellite, a moon with an earth-like atmosphere and liquid water
beneath most of its strange surface. At some time in this moon’s past, its crust had been shattered
by a massive impact. This did not destroy the fledgling world; as would have been expected. Instead;
the surface reformed over the oceans and lakes, trapping them beneath a rippled and crumpled
crust that covered most of the globe. Reminiscent of an area on the surface of Unthar; the
Untharans named this satellite She’brakda, the “Broken” moon.

It was on She’brakda that the Untharans discovered ruins of an ancient civilisation; that
apparently had abandoned the moon long ago in the distant past. To begin with; they thought that
the peoples that had lived there were native to the region, but later discoveries discounted that
theory. The discovery of a buried space craft of strange design leant more to this being an outpost of
some “alien” race. It would not be until the discovery of Keteria and the Lost Colony; that a true
inclination arose, one that implied She’brakda was a former Kryst outpost, would the need to
discover more from the “Broken” moon become a necessity. The drone craft that Lennie had sent off
on its journey; would take at least two years to reach the third Galaxy, and all on “hunch” that
coordinates worked out from the data burst Trok had sent pointed to a location within that galaxy
for the origins of the Kryst and another race, as yet unknown and unnamed. But for this to happen; a
regular transport path had to be achieved between Keterian space and the rest of the galaxy. With
the help of the Unat and the Osir an “artificial” Gateway was formed through the barrier known as
The Wall, and a continuous to and fro of space traffic soon followed suit. Two special expeditions
were eventually formed, with representatives of most of the races from both regions. These
expeditions consisting mostly of; Scientists in various fields, Xeno-Archaeologists and various
Engineering practices. Traders also took advantage of the opportunity, none more so than the
