“Some; we should have everything powered in about forty minutes or so. You may want to brace
yourselves when we do. If I’ve interpreted the legends right on these systems; the gravity will cut in
fast and stutter before stabilizing. I’ll warn you beforehand in case you’re carrying anything heavy”
He replied. One of the Mechanoids with Trok had discovered console with a slide out panel. When
this was opened it revealed a number of the Kryst data disc in rows of slots. Some slots were empty.
Further examination revealed that other panels on other consoles had similar arrangements with
either crystal circuitry, discs or strange polygon structures amid a mass of fine Nano circuitry. The
other Mechanoid found its way into a locked cupboard or locker. Inside were a number of boxes
with a varied assortment of strange tools and devices. One looked similar to an Achenazi headband.

“Krysta; can you see what I’m looking at?” he said over the com-link to the Veklaar. Hubris answered

“Eminently; if a little fuzzy, try adjusting your filter” she said

“Yes that’s better; we can see now. The circuitry is very different and would appear to connect via
electrodes in contact to the skin. Overall shape and size should indicate cranial size and structure.
Can you send that back for me to examine when you get back on board the shuttle?” Stenerton
interrupted.

“From what I can see of the seating arrangements; there must have been a crew of eight. And the
ergonomics are similar to Flutvarn arrangements. You will probably find the controls awkward as;
from the instructional video we viewed, the Kryst only have four digits on their hands. Six toes on
their feet if those fitted boots and the sandals found of She’brakda are anything to go by. Everything
about them is related to two, three, four, six or twelve. So a crew of eight seems out of place” Hubris
commented. Krysta pointed out that eight is two times four; and the Hubris groaned abashed at not
seeing the connection. Trok and his two companions decided to explore the lower levels below the
Bridge.

In the rear of the ship Michel and his Mechanoids had made great strides. They had found
what seemed to be an automatic repair system. He instructed his companions to wait till he’d
rounded up most of the floating debris; well, the larger pieces anyway, then once he was back inside
to fire up the second generator and main power feeds. That should; he assumed set the repair
system in motion. His assumption proved to be correct when; about twenty minutes after starting to
put the large sections into approximate positions the main power grid was fired up. Klaxons sounded
and the damage repair mechanisms cut in. Billions of tiny Nano machines started to “weave” a
lattice structure around the parts and the edges of the outer hull. A fascinated T’luha wished she
could be out there watching the process in close proximity. The speed of the tiny units was
incredible. A basic structure was in place in about an hour and a half. Other Nano machines started
laying down other layers of infrastructure. At the speed they were working; the ship should have an
intact hull and drive pods in twelve hours or so. Trok and his two companions made equally
remarkable discoveries.

Below the main Bridge were a number of storage lockers; a couple of restrooms, a
conference or ready room. There were also four sleeping compartments; each with hexagonal beds

and recessed storage cupboards. The last deck consisted of a number of
escape pods. Four were missing; two were empty, and the last two
seemed to have suffered from fire damage.

“We have two members of the crew Krysta; or rather what’s left of
them. It looks as if their escape pods malfunctioned and an intense
flash fire carbonised the two of them” Trok said, somewhat
dispassionately “I’ll have them sent straight to Doc for analysis as soon
as we can. We won’t open them here.” he added. The main power
