of many reptilian species in the Galaxy. Thin; lipless, and edged with scales, the Kryst mouth was
very minimalist. Similar scales covered the crown, top and back of the scalp down to the nape of the
neck. The nose and nostrils were shallow and flattened slightly. Two cranial ridges covered in large
horny scales ran from the crown down to the base of the skull where it met the neck. Not
unpleasant to look at. Krysta called Doc Stenerton to their location. He arrived slightly out of breath.

“Oh: so that’s what the eyes look like. The two carbonised bodies had lost theirs; and the
Mummified ones found on She’brakda and others found on Shust all had their eyes replaced with
rounded jewels. Judging by the nodule under the skin by its larynx; that is a male, the females have a
smooth neck and the cranial ridges are less pronounced.” Doc said when he saw the Kryst in its
sarcophagus. “If the power unit is stable it might be possible to have this chamber taken to the
Veklaar. After the amount of time this unit’s been running; it would be wise to do a slow
resuscitation procedure. We want the occupant to live after all” he added.

“When Michael’s finished up with Trok; I’ll get him to don the suit and take it over manually. I have
to admit that my first “live” Kryst is not quite what I expected” Krysta said and made the
arrangements. Ensign Tsu was examining the remains of the removed objects and notice a spherical

object had rolled under a bench. He retrieved it and was
surprised to find it contained what looked like a Positronic
                                                   brain circuit.

“Captain; take a look at this!” He said and handed the
transparent ball over to her. Michael walked in wearing
the suit and Krysta and Doc Stenerton told him what
                                                   needed to be done.

“Is that a Positronic Encephalic circuit? Wonder where the
Kryst got that. It looks like part of a Krall A.I. interface from
one of the later robotic bodies they used to house their downloaded consciousness?” He
commented puzzled. Doc was amazed that Michael even knew about the device. Michael explained
that his Uncle had been one of the Archivists on the exploration of the Krall Orbital station around
Praxis 7. His Uncle had brought samples with him for Michael to tinker with. “I reckon I could
probably interface it with one of the other Mechanoids on the Veklaar” he said adding “it’s
remarkably intact so there should be no difficulty” and he lifted the Stasis unit up with one hand.
Krysta admonished him for showing off and made him get a better grip on it. Tsu and the Doc
collected all the items from the room and the other stasis unit then also headed back to the Veklaar
with Michael. Krysta went to join the rest of the team who had discovered another database unit in
the ships equivalent of a Mess Hall.

Hubris had overcome his magnetic imbalance problem and was helping to translate some of
the passages in the database. He explained that the files they were looking at were a record of the
crew’s activities spying on the colony on She’brakda. Apparently in their home planets’ past; there
had been a massive divide over how best to preserve their races future viability. One faction was in
favour of Evolving to a higher form, another to de-evolve to a simpler form. A third faction; the
colonists on She’brakda, chose to genetically modify clones of compatible races to accept
implantation of Kryst DNA. That explained the Genetic Laboratory and the local fauna experiments.
They had made some remarkable progress, but at a price. They lost half of the Genetic Marker Code
that their “Gods” implanted in them. The crew members on this ship were from their home world’s
intelligence service. “They were extremely thorough; meticulous in their attention to detail. They
were about to head back with their findings when the explosion in the drive chamber and power
conduits happened. The logs end with a note by the leader; our Kryst in the Stasis Sarcophagus, yes
that’s what they called them, made a final entry to the effect that he considered the disaster a form
