student fraternity. The word is “Dunce”, meaning oaf or idiot” Isaac explained. “But his huge size did
come in handy when he was made Commander in Chief of the Patrol” he continued.
“Children can be so cruel at times; I remember well what I used to get called. It left me bitter for a
long time and probably caused a lot of my “unruly” behaviour while growing up” chuckled Galena

“The storm should be over in about an hour, so in the meantime, why don’t we let these two have a
more detailed look at the “Resivistor”. While we three take a look at the scans of that Grey’s brain”
said Rupert. Galena, Rupert and Isaac headed to a secluded section of the shelter and Galena
handed a pad to Isaac.

“Take a look at the highlighted section” she suggested.

“I see. In humans and other races that have latent Psi or Telepathic abilities this area of the brain is
slightly more developed than normal. What I see here points not so much to repair as a form of
artificial enhancement. That part of the bio-circuitry for instance” He pointed to an enlarged area on
the screen “that looks almost like the Nano-circuitry in the Achenazi headbands that was added by
the Osir. This section is similar to the memory crystal structure of the Krall archive crystals” He
adjusted the focus in tight around a group of cells just at the edge of the “rebuilt” area.
“That’s odd? I’ve seen a similar arrangement before. Galena; are you aware of the work of Jürgen
Kurtz from Nova Thule?”

“I’ve heard of him, he’s a specialist in Bio-Engineering, he was responsible for the developments in
the Bio-Mechanoids”

“This linking circuitry is almost identical to the interfacing in Bio-Mechanoids. Kurtz overcame the
incompatibility issue only after employing Krall techniques. The Greys have managed to do the same
at a genetic level apparently. I really must find a way to talk to them”

R’Pak was dismayed that the Rotan Klu could not land at Lunaris due to the solar storm and
had to remain in a parking orbit, more so when she learned about the Sphere needing to return to
space for the duration of the storm. She was in the lounge again. Marcus was there looking
despondent and she felt sorry she had treated him so badly since coming on board. She felt
ashamed that she had used Wigfall like that and decided to make amends while they awaited the all
clear and, in the process, clear the air. He was sat at his usual position at the bar. She walked over
and sat beside him.

“I’m sorry I’ve been… distant Marcus. I was not sure just how we were situated since our previous
encounter. I guess I was still… upset over your attitude to my people’s customs. May I buy you a
drink?”

“Genovan Whiskey sour thank you” he said curtly. The barman served the drink
in another glass. He downed it in one, tried to look resolute but ended up
coughing and spluttering helplessly. She laughed, and he managed a smile. “I’d
forgotten how harsh that stuff can be” he said between coughs. He ordered a
soda water to ease his burning throat. She ordered a Mescal Inoxi and another
Genovan Whiskey sour.

“I suppose I’d best come clean. I still find your peoples practices… disturbing, but I was with The
Order back then and…” he started to say but she interrupted.
