omores Jen Wilkerson and Melissa Wiecek

D other words of encouragement before the

game continues. Jen said, “Teamwork was a

big part of the season. I can remember sev­

eral times when I either made a mistake or

had to let the ball go, and there was always

someone backing me up to keep the play

going. This is just one example of the unity

that we had as a team, which I believe was

founded in our one common goal — to place

God above all.”

S ophomore setter Becky Ruben takes a dive

for the ball while teammates Jen Wilkerson,

Sandy Zwart, and Melissa Wiecek are ready

to assist her. Sandy said, “I was impressed

with the way that we were encouraged

through Coach Grooms’ devotions at prac­

tices to be others-centered so that we would

not appear to be a clique as some sports

teams do. This was the best team I have ever

played on, and I’m thankful to the Lord that

He gave me the opportunity to be part of this

team before I graduated.”
