S tanding proudly with Coach Grooms, who

was voted the Coach of the Year and Coach

of the Tournament, Jen Wilkerson, Becky

Ruben, and Cathy Trask display the plaques

they received for being chosen as a member

of the All-Tournament team. Cathy said, “I

really considered it an honor to have Coach

Grooms as my coach this year. She helped

me achieve so many things spiritually, as well

as on the court, that I would never have been

able to do.” Cathy and Jen also received

awards at Nationals for being chosen for All-

American honors, and Becky received Hon­

orable Mention.

A fter not being able to have a carbonated

drink during the season, the team proudly

presents their newly-won banner along with

cans of drinks — which they kept hidden

from the coach until after winning their final

game. ”1 didn’t have the same feelings as

some of the upperclassmen did after our

victory, but it was exciting to be part of a

team that won its first national title during my

freshman year,” said setter Kim Elliot. “It

was really encouraging and gave me much

to look forward to, and it showed all of us

how God blessed us because we kept our

focus on Him.”
