1S12 Trimly School reorganized as the United Slates settled into its
existence as an independent nation.
During the period of the War of 1812, the newly reorganized
First Protestant Episcopal Charity School in the City of New York
adopted the methods of Madison Avenue. Handbills like the one
reproduced on the opposite page were distributed to those interested
in the School. Whether the modern Trinity scholar would be more
pleased to have his own picture or one of the familiar hymns which
he sings in chapel published in the School catalogue is not difficult
to say. One can be sure, however, that the rigorous educational
program outlined opposite would make the scholar of 1959 cringe.
