cut, was well  fought to the end, but the
                                                                                              superiority  of  the  visitors  in  the  long
                                                                                              distance  runs  made  the vital  difference
                                                                                              as the Quakers bowed.
                                                                                                Clever  strategy  and  inspired  runners
                                                                                              finally  combined  in  the  NEPS  Cham­
                                                                                              pionships to hand  MB its  13th straight
                                                                                              title.  Allen  Harper had the Flu, but the
                                                                                              other team  members  filled  in  nicely  to
                                                                                              bring  off  the  razoredge  victory  over
                                                                                              Mount  Hermon.  Particular  plaudits  go
                                                                                              to  Tom  Louttit  and  Bob  Settipane  for
                                                                                              outstanding  performances.  Almost  the
                                                                                              entire  team  in  the  meet  walked  off
                                                                                              with  at  least  one  ribbon  for  their
                                                                                              efforts.  The  shot-put  team  of
                                                                                              DeSim one,  T reglia,  and  M ostertz
                                                                                              brought  in  big  points.  DeFeo,  Louttit
                                                                                              and  Parker  in  the  high  jump  added
                                                                                              more.  Dave  Shaw  had  a  fine  day  in
                                                                                              both  the  mile  and  1000.  The  untried
                                                                                              relay  team  of  Cooper,  Hanson,  Parker
                                                                                              and Levy ended the day on a fine note.
                                                                                                Several  members of  D oc’s  stable
                                                                                              took  part  in  creditable  fashion  in  the
                                                                                              star-studded  RI  AAU  Championships,
                                                                                              in  which  the  Quaker  AA  once  again
                                                                                              proved its innate strength.
                                                                                                W ith  few  seniors  on  the  track  to
                                                                                              better  things,  many  of  this  year’s  team
                                                                                             will be back to heat up the indoor oval.
                                                                                              And,  we  are  sure,  Doc  will  have  his
                                                                                             eyes  and  ears  alert  to  any  new  pro­
                                                                                              spects.
