OMMITMENT. “Commit thy way unto the
Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to
pass.” Sparks of joy and excitement flood the campus when
each sport begins. Whether it is volleyball, basketball, soc
cer, baseball, or golf, scores of students anticipate watching
or participating in the collegiate activities. Athletes com
mit themselves to training hard and spending long hours of
practice trying to be the best players they can be. When
athletes humble themselves under the leadership of God,
they can accomplish their goals. Coaches work to instill dis
cipline and character in team members, not only for the
game, but also for life.
Fans, wearing their favorite athlete’s jersey, add moti
vation and encouragement to the team. In the midst of all
this excitement, athletes, fans and relatives are reminded
to keep God in the center of all their activities. Sports is not
about the winning shot, but about maintaining a good testi
mony at all times.
