Bobbie socks and slicked-back hair, ponytails, and leather
jackets, plus rousing games to the strains of the tuneful crooners
of twenty years ago combined to take us back in time to the
Nifty Fifties. The freshmen class went all out, on the night of
January 12, to provide us with the atmosphere and spirit of the
days when our parents grew up. After meeting in the gym for
greaser contests and various games, we ran through the pouring
rain to arrive at Arnie’s, our very own CCC cafeteria, thoroughly
wet and soggy, to feast on cheeseburgers and french fries, which
fortunately were not wet and soggy. A$ soon as the food was
devoured, the men beat a hasty retreat to wring the grease out of
their hair, while the ladies scraped off their lipstick. The evening,
an enjoyable and memorable one, proved to be a smashing
success.
