The Tennis Colonels opened the
season with a touqh scrimmage against
LaSalle. They performed quite well and
that set the tone for the rest of the
season.
They moved on to sweep such teams
as Boone Countyr Simon Kentonr Scott,
Villa Madona, Calvary Christian, Ryle,
and Dixie. This success was not without
some admirable foes. Of course, St.X,
Lone Oak, Henry Clay, and Elder gave
the Colonels a run for their money but
they fought hard through it all and
played respectfully.
In the exciting season there were
beautiful performances by such players
as Jimmy Roebker, Stephen Schafer,
Jacob Litmer, Mickey Sutton, John Faqel,
k\ »i>i ! and more. The Colonels were able to
luv sweep Conference and move on to
Region and State.
IB Not to mention the other excitement of
r a m ] star Colonels, Jimmy Roebker, signing
with Xavier University to play tennis at
the Division I level and Mickey Sutton
signing with Siena College for four years
of division III play.
All in all, the Tennis Colonels had a
tremendous season. With the team
taking State Runners-Up and Jimmy
Roebker a two-year tennis state
champion, they proved themselves once
again top dogs in their sport.
