The Varsity Field Fiockey teams finished the season with an impressive record of 14-3, beating teams such as Rye
Country Day, St. Luke’s, and “arch rival" Convent of the Sacred Heart. Although the team faced hardship with the
multiple injuries of captain Chrissy Mara, a concussion given to Kristin Twomey, as well as all those yellow
cards, the squad was able to maintain their spirit and focus and remain successful. Things got tough for our
Gryphons mid-way through the season when the girls faced their most difficult challenge ever; the “Blue vs.
White Game”. During this inter-squad match-up, the “Holy Child Spirit Cup” was up for grabs. The game was
fierce and overly-aggressive, and although in the end the Blue Team had the most goals, the ‘W hite Team” came
in first with spirit, faking out the judges and actually making “orange” their spirit color. (Harriet Thayer and
Charlotte Dennis are still trying to get the orange off their faces) The senior leadership and hard work by the
juniors and sophomores surely paid off this year, and this team will never be forgotten. GO HOCHO!!!
