MARION L. HERMAN

Marion L. Herman, Head of the Mathe­
matics Department of Upper School, is
retiring this year. His unique method of
teaching math and his curt wit and per­
ceptive philosophy have inspired generations
of Moses Brown boys. In addition he has
instigated and advised the school’s Chess
Club and has functioned as the Director
of Testing. Mr. Herman may leave, but his
influence and respect will stay with us all

HELEN J. PAXTON

Helen J. Paxton is also leaving Moses
Brown School this year. She has endeared
herself to Moses Brown students through
her aura of cheerfulness and friendliness. She
is to be commended also for her efficiency
and accuracy on the job. For many years,
both as a teacher and as a librarian, she has

served Moses Brown well. We of the Mosaic
join with hundreds of other Moses Brown
students and alumni in expressing sincere
thanks to Mrs. Paxton for her wisdom, wit,
and warmth.
