The 1964 soccer team compiled the best record since soccer
was revived five years ago at M.B. Led by the fine coaching of
Mr. Smyth and by the superb play of both captains and
Steve Freedman, the team posted an even 5-5-1 record.
With a stronger defense than the previous year, the Blue
opened with a stirring 5-1 victory over Roxbury Latin. Play
ing a very fine Brown freshman team and "Twinkle Toes” to
boot, Moses Brown bettered the previous year’s loss (15-0) by
losing only 9-0. Unfortunately Goalie John Owen suffered a
kidney hemorrhage and was lost for the season. Against
Worcester, the Blue could not mount an effective attack and
lost 2-0. Travelling to the slopes of St. George’s, our team
again lost a tough one, 3-0. One of the high points of the
season was the come-back victory against Nobles and
Greenough. For four quarters the game was scoreless; but in
the first overtime period Nobles scored. The teams switched
