ends for the second overtime period, and Moses Brown came
roaring back with goals by Pretty-Boy Carson and Stevie
Freedman.
Facing Pomfret, a team which the Quakers had not defeated
since soccer was revived, the Mo Brown Booters, led by Eric
Schreuder’s score and Hardy Brewster’s fine goal tending, de
feated a tough Pomfret team. A week later M.B. lost to an
undefeated Tabor squad. Two Tabor goals in the last minute
killed a late M.B. rally. The Quakers then defeated the U.R.I.
frosh and Thayer Academy.
The soccer team had ended its regular season with five wins
and five losses; but the annual post-season faculty game
remained. That game ended in a 2-all tie. Faculty scoring was
done by coaches Smyth and Malin, while the student scoring
was done by Schreuder and sophomore John Watson.
Next year’s team shows great promise. Juniors Turner,
Carson, Gorab, and Owen will be returning along with sopho Co-Captain Eric Schreuder
mores Watson, Ferguson, and Brown. Led by halfbacks Terry
Mahoney and Eric Schreuder and by forward Steve Freedman,
who spent his time between games in a polyethylene bag, the
team showed great effort. Seniors Bartlett, Martin, and Wilson
contributed greatly to the team effort. Good luck to John
Owen and Harris Gorab, next year’s co-captains.
