aking His
Message of
Hope to the
Lost World
Much preparation, practice, and study go into
becoming a preacher. Bible majors study many
hours as they investigate the wonders of the
Word to prepare sermons and devotionals.
Assembling their notes into a coherent for
mat, they develop devotionals and shorter ser
mons before tackling a sermon of substantial
length. Because of the great responsibility of
teaching others from the Bible, the men take
many hours to prepare. Once on paper, the
sermon needs to be practiced so that it flows
without interruption. While practicing, they
rely on the Holy Spirit to show them points
they may want to emphasize or on which to
develop a completely different sermon.
The Bible program is directed by men who
have earned the respect of the young men they
instruct. Jeremy Coppock says, “As I see God’s
plan for my life, they are why I am here,
surrounding myself with men who are like
what I want to be.”

and former proctor, Ernie
