I entered the office freezing cold from a rain-drenched uniform
                                                                   coupled  with the sub-zero temperatures in the  ‘S’  building. Timidly, I
                                                                   handed the fateful  blue slip to Mrs. Schneider and took my seat in line
                                                                   to see Mr. Clark. Ahead of me were the usual culprits: the class skippers,
                                                                   the Birkenstock-wearers, the overachieving juniors who check daily to
                                                                   see  if there are any openings  in  Comparative Government AP.  But to
                                                                   my  right,  a freshman  laughed  under her breath  as  I  sat down  irritated
                                                                   and cold. “Why are you here?” she asked. “Too many tardies,” 1 replied,
                                                                   “You?”                       We relived her crime from the devious
                                                                                                 idea’s conception to the moment she
                                                                                                was caught in the act.
                                                                                                         Apparently,  playing  in
                                                                                                         puddles  is  strictly  against
                                                                                                         Pine Crest law.

                                                                                                         of mine.
                                                                                                                 When  I  see  her
                                                                                                         passing  in  the  halls,  like
                                                                                                         everyone  else,  I  carefully
                                                                                                         observe    her   fashion
                                                                                                         statements.  I  inquire about
