Rainy weather hampers season
"The season was hampered by the weather which
affects the running production, but the team did well in
defense, pitching and the hitting came around," said
varsity coach Curt Shockey. Last year, the weather was
the same as this year with the rain, but the team improved
as they went along, The team would sometimes play four
to five games a week due to rained out games.
"Last year we had our strength in power hitters, and
this year we had ours in depth and speed. We can't rely
on the power, we have to score our runs one, two, and
three runs at a time with the speed we have," said
Shockey. This year the team had at least six pitchers
compared to the two last year.
The varsity team won the Federal Division with a record
.-iff of 5-0, and won the District by beating Papillion. Junior Dale
Kistaitis was named Most Valuable Player for the team, and
as a team they hit .320.
