“Camp was a blast at Lake SPIRIT
Okaboji!" said Meg Fowler, JV cheer
leader.
Drill teamer, Melissa Quiter adds,
"Camp was one of the best and worst
experiences of my life. What you learn
there helps so much in the school year,
from new routines to getting to know
your squad better, but you learn it all
in four days!"
Camp was mainly that - a
physical, learning workout. They were
held in July and August with all the
squads in the southeast part of
Nebraska being invited to represent
their schools.
Awards were given to the drill
team that received a trophy for an
excessive number of blue ribbons, a
spirit stick for all three days of
competition, and for becoming a
superstar squad. The cheerleaders
also received a spirit stick, along with
four superior blue ribbons (the best),
eight excellent red ribbons (second
best) and two outstanding ribbons
(third best). The varsity squad was also
nominated for the award of excel
lence.
Michelle L. Miller, drill teamer, said,
"It made the squad a lot closer
together, because they had sessions
on friendship.”
Overall, Jeannie Johnson, flag
teamer, said she
thinks "it's really
an asset to go!"
As "Eat 'em U p " was played, the
drill team brightened up the
bleachers with their flashy pom . , . me varsir
pons and yells of rah rah! cheerleaders with an unusual mount at th,
