Step a s i d e , Kris is here
On Dec. 13 the electronics class took a new friend
for her first stroll around the building. Her name? Kris.
Where did she come from? A box?
Kris is Ralston High School's latest advancement in
technology. Her real title, Health Education Robot 1,
(HERO-1). She was nicknamed Kris after Rampages
Editor Kris Hsu, because Hsu took first interest in the
robot.
HERO-1 cost the school $1,500 and required
approximately three months or 90 hours of electronics
teacher James Wolfe's time. HERO-1 is three feet tall
and weighs approximately one pound.
If programed, HERO-1 can say just about anything,
and can react at the slamming of a door or the
clapping of hands.
When asked what the next thing HERO-1 would be
trying, Wolfe exclaimed, "I think well teach it to chase
girls for us!"
I know I forgot something!
Studying the robot before
putting the top on it is James
Wolfe.
