Band wins
at Clarinda
Left, right, left, right, left-right-left!
The marching band had a busy
schedule this year trying to "pack in"
not only regular half time shows at
home football games, but also march
ing at the state fair, and two marching
competitions. They travelled to Clarin
da, Iowa for a field and marching
competition where they attained a
second place. The highlight of the
remains on the side lines to do hand drills, season was a first place finish at
with their two-tone gloves flashing
then white. Septemberfest.
During the marching season band
director Allan Amandus generally
called practices at 7 a.m.
"Every once in awhile he was nice
and gave us practices at 7:30," said
sophomore Bob Sullivan.
Said junior Chris Ahl in regards to
early practice, "I definitely think we
needed the practice."
The band was not without humor
this year. They did a dance (including
chorus line kicks) to the song “Little
Brown Jug" while the percussion
section accompanied them. For the
band, it was truly a "prize-act" year.
