Radical, exciting, thrilling and wild were just a few of
the words that described how the varsity girls basketball
team felt about qualifying for the state basketball
tournament in Lincoln. "I'm glad we made it, especially
since it was my senior year,” said Kim Farrell.
"W e worked hard for four years, and it all finally paid
off,” said senior Cindy Havel. All three girls basketball teams
practiced every day after school, except on game days,
for two hours.
Words could not express how the girls felt after junior
Sharon Krebs made the final basket during the district game
against Millard North. This was the largest crowd that has
ever "packed” the stands for the girls team.
Tears of sadness and joy were shown the final game
of the season. In every game, one team comes out the
winner, and another comes out the loser. Although the
team did lose to Central, many didn't feel like they lost.
They were proud that they made it to Lincoln to play, and
being the first girls team ever from Ralston to attend.
I'm trapped! Senior Cindy Havel tries
to shoot the ball but her opponent
blocks her, so she passes the ball to
her teammate.
