                                                                          Under  the  d i r e c t i o n   of  Mr.  Gerald
                                                                          C'halupa,  the  Band  got  off to a  marching
                                                                          start  by  performing  at  football  games.
                                                                          They  attended  the  Plattsmouth  Marching-
                                                                          Clinic,  the State Marching Contest, and the
                                                                          Homecoming  parade.  Execellent  ratings
                                                                          were  received  at  the Plattsmouth  Clinic
                                                                          and  at  the  State  Contest  in  Lincoln.

                                                                          The  band  moved  indoors  to  begin prac­
                                                                          ticing  for  South  Pacific  which  was  in
                                                                          production.  Since an  orchestra was need­
                                                                          ed,  it  was  necessary for  Mr.  Chalupa to
                                                                          recruit  string  players  from  Ralston and
                                                                          surrounding communities.
