he familiar music of a Friday night plays through the speakers, the Rowdies start to
claim their spots on the bleachers, the sun goes down, and energy emitts everywhere
when the boys charge the field and get ready for kickoff.
Seniors Isaac Dannehl and Noah Ollerich made sure to stress the importance of
communication and what role it plays in football. “It all starts with your chemistry on and
off the field,” says Dannehl. “If w e’re able to get along off the field, then on the field you
almost have that connection too.” Ollerich agreed. Sophomore Ayden Fink says, “My
biggest goal this year was to make it to playoffs.” With the close bond and great
communication the boys showed this year, they reached their goal. They put up a tough
fight against Scottsbluff, but unfortunately, lost with the final score being 69-21. Senior
Gerardo Perez says, “Causing a fumble against Scottsbluff was the most memorable
moment of the year.”
There were 17 seniors on the varsity team this year, which proved to be an emotional
last year for them. Dannehl explains, “I learned that when you get a group of guys together
that you truly care about, that it makes you want to work that much harder and win for
them.” Many of the underclassmen had great role models to look up to this year and can
use knowledge they gained this year for future games. Ollerich advises to future players,
“Always push yourself and to always go hard even if you’re not a starter because your time
will come and the coaches will notice your hard work.” The boys ended with a 4-6 season
overall and came out of this year closer than ever before.
