" . . . I'm the youngest professional clown in Nebraska because
I'm employed. There are a lot of other kids that are younger than
me, but they're not as interested as I am." -Freshman Jason Jordan
■ ■ ■ I "I've been a clown
... all my life, class
* clown, but I really
I ' ^ got started just
. (I) found out there
was a class at Metro
N . . . I learned to do balloons
through a lot of reading, listen
ing, learning and through lots of
1
friends. My mother and I both
sew and we sew my outfits. Ev
\ erything in my wardrobe . . . is
sewn except the hairpiece and the
shoes. I sent away for the hair
I piece ... my mom is a cosmetolo
gist so she cut it for my features
and my face.
I belong to Clowns of America
International, and here in Omaha,
Clowns of America International
have Omaha's Wild Clowndom.
In Omaha, we have over 65 mem
bers. We have meetings once a
month. Every meeting . . . some
body does their birthday party.
I'm the youngest professional
clown in Nebraska because I'm
employed. There are a lot of
other kids that are younger than
iddle school and high me, but they're not as interested
M school students as I am." Birthday Parties? "I get
involved in Clown Troupe, paid $25 for a half hour. It takes
sponsored by middle me at least an hour and a half to
school teacher Nancy put on the make up, half an hour
Woodhams, traveled to to make the trip there, half an
Carriage Hill Elementary hour to do the birthday party,
School in Papillion to and a half an hour to take it off..
entertain kindergarten . For a half an hour I would give
through third graders. them a small magic show, and
then we'd do balloons and then
we'd play a game and . . . that
takes up about a half an hour. For
an hour, I'd do a large magic show.
I'd probably use everything that I
had for a large magic show. I've
been a class clown all my life. A
lot of people just call me an ama
teur because I don't have the ex
perience. My friends, Bubblegum
and Beemer, they say I look like a
pro. I really call myself a semi-
pro because I don't have the expe
rience that my other friends have.
I plan on doing this for the rest of
my life, an occupation. I want to
go to the circus. As soon as 1
graduate from here, I'm heading
off for the circus."
